Police identify one of 3 suspects in beating of autistic man

Police in Mississauga, have identified one of the three suspects in the recent assault of a 29-year-old man with autism at a bus terminal in Mississauga. A video of the attack released by police on March 13 shows the man sitting at the bottom of a stairwell putting on roller blades when three young men approached from behind and began to punch and kick him. Police said the unidentified victim suffered a broken nose and facial cuts. Peel Region police has said that  “overwhelming tips from the community led them to identify one of the suspects as 25-year-old Ronjot Singh Dhami of no fixed address.” His last known address is in Surrey, British Columbia. A Canada-wide arrest warrant for Dhami has been issued on one count of aggravated assault. Police have said all three suspects may still be in the Toronto area and are being encouraged to call a lawyer and turn themselves in.

Peel Police Appealing for Witnesses in 8th Homicide of 2018

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are investigating the 8th homicide of 2018 which has claimed the life of a Brampton man.

On Monday, March 19, 2018, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to reports of an assault taking place in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Cedarcliff Trail in the City of Brampton. Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.  The victim was rushed to a Toronto area trauma centre.

As a result of the assault, Paviter Singh BASSI, a 21 year-old male from the  City of Brampton, was pronounced deceased earlier this morning at the hospital.
