BRAMPTON, ON, March 30th, 2017,Today the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister visited the Magna International Incorporated facility as part of his post-budget tour to announce our Government’s new Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

Through Budget 2017, our Government is investing $125 million in a Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy. The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) will be responsible for administering the new funding.  The objective is to connect the key research centres across our country and to create magnets (superclusters) for research, global talent, and firms operating in this field.

This investment illustrates that Canada is a nation that is ready to harness the benefits of artificial intelligence and to build an environment that will give our country a competitive advantage in this area.  This investment will create good well-paying Canadian jobs that are sustainable for the long-term; it will create opportunitiesto help middle class Canadians succeed.

“From smartphone applications to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence can change the way we interact with each other and our surroundings.  Our Government is investing in research, talent, and collaboration resources to make our nation a global leader in the artificial intelligence space.” – Ms. Kamal Khera, Member of Parliament (Brampton West)

About Ms. Kamal Khera – Ms. Kamal Khera is the Member of Parliament for Brampton West and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue.  Ms. Khera sits on the finance committee as a non-voting representative of the Government.
