Pakistan on Wednesday stunned England by eight wickets to enter their maiden Champions Trophy final, continuing their sensational run in the tournament.
Pakistani bowlers produced another professional performance to restrict the formidable England batting line-up to 211 after Sarfraz Ahmed opted to bowl on a used surface. Pakistan eased to its target with 12.5 overs to spare. Earlier, Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali took centre-stage as the English batting failed to get going, after being sent in by Sarfraz Ahmed, with no batsman making a fifty.
Joe Root top-scored with 46 and Jonny Bairstow, who replaced Jason Roy, managed 43 in an innings without a single six. Hasan returned excellent figures of three for 35 in 10 overs.
England, which was 128 for two, lost its last eight wickets for just 83 runs. Such was Pakistan’s control that Ben Stokes’s 34 took 64 balls.
