Kalpit Panchal is an artist who is deeply transcendental by spiritualism. His experience of spiritual phenomenon is expressed on canvases with joy. He grasps the mundane world at a spiritual dimension and then expresses it on canvases through colours and lines. His visual language is full of vibrant imagination with sweeping forms and shapes. These paintings are the manifestation of cosmic power. The human body transformed into the geometrical forms representing “Shakti”. In some paintings, He has tried to show a “Yogi”, sitting in meditation posture and transformed into “Shaktidal” (cult of geometrical symbols).

An onlooker may find them mystical or even magical. Lotus, water, the Linga in the upside down ‘U’ form, overlapping of triangles, the radiant sun, the crescent moon and the golden shaft of divine light are some of the motifs that are used in various combinations in order to create divine compositions. Glowing reds, oranges, yellows, scarlet and a wide range of soothing blues complement one another. Inspired by the centuries old Tantric Art tradition of India, modern Indian Art also evolved a modern Indian Tantric genre of paintings. It combines the best of modern western art and Indian Tradition. This is very well reflected in Kalpit’s paintings. An onlooker with spiritual inclination will find it easy to meditate on Kalpit’s paintings.

At Beaux – Arts Brampton, from 30 August to 5 September, 2015.
