Last week, Harinder Malhi, MPP for Brampton Springdale, in collaboration with Peel Regional Police, hosted an information session for local jewelers in the community. In light of recent occurrences Peel Crime Prevention provided valuable information on ways to protect their homes; their businesses; and themselves, while travelling in between the two.
Peel Police Central Robbery Bureau, pledged to work closely with the Jewellers to facilitate the exchange of information relating to robbery prevention and for the purpose of thorough investigations of all incidents.
Peel Crime Stoppers also gave a presentation on how they might be able to assist with investigations of crimes.
John Lamont, director of loss prevention for the JVC (Jewellers Vigilance Canada) was in attendance and provided his support.
“Experiencing a crime is traumatic and can have long-lasting effects. My thanks to Peel Regional Police for sharing their practical experience and proposing that information about incidents is key to ensure the most effective crime prevention interventions are undertaken.”
