The local school breakfast club at Robert H. Lagerquist Sr. Public School received a $2,000 donation today, from the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), where Matt Hiraishi, Manager of Government Relations, was on hand to present the cheque. Joining him at the presentation were Harinder Malhi, MPP for Brampton-Springdale and Suzanne Nurse, Peel District School Board Trustee. The students were thrilled with the donation to the school breakfast club where many of them take advantage of the program. Teachers were also on hand and were motivated with the support for the program and the opportunity to continue to grow this initiative. Principal, Neela Zinn, joined the teachers and students in the excitement and was extremely appreciative of the donation to Robert H. Lagerquist Sr. Public School. Eating a balanced breakfast every morning is one of the simplest things we can do to ensure young bodies and minds are receiving the vital nutrients they need to shine. IBC was pleased to give back to the community, especially supplying nutrition to the young minds of tomorrow and supporting their health and education. – “This donation by IBC allows Robert H. Lagerquist Sr. Public School to continue to offer a nutritious breakfast to students for only $1. With breakfast in their systems students can start the day right; can be more active at school; and make the most of their learning experience.” – Harinder Malhi, MPP, Brampton-Springdale – “Starting the school day with a nutritious breakfast is an important factor in supporting student well-being. Robert H. Lagerquist Sr. Public School appreciates this generous donation from the Insurance Bureau of Canada towards the school’s breakfast program. Thank you MPP Malhi for partnering with the local school community and providing opportunities such as this to support student success”
