Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South, joined her federal and provincial colleagues today as Minister Navdeep Bains announced more than $69 million for clean water infrastructure funding.

In partnership with the Government of Ontario, the federal government made the significant infrastructure investment to ensure Canadians have access to clean water and a clean environment, and to tackle the infrastructure deficit across the country.   In particular, this announcement included funding for sewer rehabilitation and a Stormwater Asset Management Plan for the city of Brampton, to ensure the City can meet the needs of the city as it continues to grow.

“I am very happy that our Government is investing in these important infrastructure projects, “MP Sidhu said Tuesdaymorning. “We were elected on a promise to invest in Canadian infrastructure, and we are working hard to do just that. These projects in Brampton will create real benefits for the families who live throughout the city.”

On behalf of Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi, the announcement was made by Minister of Innovation, Navdeep Bains. Ontario MPP Dipika Damerla was also on hand to represent the provincial investment in these projects.

The Government of Canada will be investing more than $180 billion in infrastructure over 12 years to ensure that Canadians have access to public transit, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, transportation for Canada’s trade needs, and which invests in rural and northern communities.

“These significant investments will be seen as real change in our communities across Canada and right here in Brampton,” MP Sidhu said. “I was very proud to join my colleagues for this announcement today.”
