“Lest we forget the sacrifices of the men and women that fought for our Canadians rights”

As Veterans’ Week comes to a close, Ms. Ruby Sahota, Member of Parliament for Brampton North, paid tribute to all Canadians who have served. MP Sahota attended the Service of Remembrance held on November 11th 2017. In addition, MP Sahota visited both Branch 15 and Branch 609 for a Canada 150 Pin ceremony to recognize some of the many great volunteers working with the Royal Canadian Legion.

The Government of Canada remembers and honours those who have served our country in uniform during times of war, military conflict and peace. Their selfless efforts have helped shape Canada into what it is today – a country of freedom and diversity.

This year, on November 10th, we marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele and recognize the sacrifices of Canadians who, in a muddy corner of Belgium, overcame almost unimaginable hardships to capture this ruined village in 1917. The sacrifices of Canadian soldiers who took part in this important chapter in our country’s proud military history will not be forgotten.

“This year is a special year of commemoration for Canada, including Canada 150, 100th anniversaries of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and the Battle of Passchendaele, and the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid. Lest we forget the sacrifices of the men and women that fought for our Canadians rights” said MP Sahota.
