Latif banned for 5 years for spot¬fixing

Pakistan cricket’s anti-corruption tribunal has banned opener Khalid Latif for five years and fined him one million rupees ($9,489) over a Pakistan Super League spot-fixing case, the second casualty after teammate Sharjeel Khan was banned late last month. “Latif is banned for five years and fined one million rupees after the proceedings of the case,” the three-member tribunal said.

Muguruza crushes Puig in Tokyo

New world number one Garbine Muguruza overwhelmed Olympic champion Monica Puig 6-4 6-0 to ease into the quarterfinals of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

Playing her first match since taking over at the top, Spain’s Wimbledon champion broke her Puerto Rican opponent twice in the first set and was even more dominant in the second.

ICC clears Brathwaite’s bowling action
