India cricket captain Virat Kohli has said  that it is not his space to comment on the controversial omission of Karun Nair from the Test squad and, contrary to the growing belief, all decisions are not being made from “one place”.

“Selectors have already spoken about it and it is not my place to say. There are selectors doing their job,” said Kohli.  “If a person has spoken about it already, it should not be brought in here again. The chief selector has already spoken to the player of what I know. I don’t think I need to comment on that. Selection is not my job. As a team we are doing what we are supposed to,” he added while speaking to media ahead of first test against West Indies.

Man U in trouble after arriving late for match

Manchester United have been charged by UEFA after arriving late for their goalless draw at home to Valencia, the European soccer body has said. British media reports said the United team bus had been held up in traffic on the way to Old Trafford and arrived only 45 minutes before kickoff of the Group H match, which was put back by five minutes. UEFA said that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against the English Premier League side for “late team arrival” and “late kickoff”. Valencia were also charged over the late kickoff, along with “kit infringement” and the setting-off of fireworks by their supporters, UEFA said.

CHINA AIRLIFTS PLAYERS TO ‘MILITARY’ CAMP

Open dissent has broken out in Chinese football over a plan to spirit 55 players away to a military-style national training camp at a critical point in the season. The domestic under-25 players will have more than two months of intensive football training stretching into late December. The unusual plan means the players will not be involved in the run-up to the end of the Chinese Super League (CSL) season in November, underlining the country’s desperation to improve its national team.  As per reports, the camp will involve “military training”.

Strauss steps down as ECB director of cricket

Former England captain Andrew Strauss has stepped down from his position as director of cricket and will take up a more flexible role with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the 41-year-old has announced.  Strauss’ resignation comes a few months after he stepped back from the position to support his wife Ruth in her fight against cancer.
