Over the past weekend, the Kitchener Blues Festival once again raised its bar by announcing an amazing line-up of great musicians at its well attended launch party.
The Elements night club in Kitchener, Ontario, not too far from Toronto, was abuzz with activity as eager blues fans jammed the place to hear first hand the composition of musicians that would set Kitchener ablaze from August 9-12 for 4 days of non-stop blues.
Canadian veteran Rik Emmett, one of the defining members of globally renowned rock band ‘Triumph’ will set the pace on Aug 9 by opening up the festival alongside Jonny Lang , guitarist extraordinaire who has toured extensively with the Experience Hendrix performance that celebrates the music and legacy of guitar God Jimi Hendrix. Rock and blues fans couldn’t ask for a better opening act!
The kick-off party night to announce all the participants was brilliantly emceed by Gayle O’Brien and Darryl Law of the Dave Rocks morning buzz. ‘Son of Dave’ and ‘The Ghost Town Blues Band’ provided entertainment and music that saw scores of people shaking a leg, before the rest of the announcements were made.
Then came the magic moments when the rest of the bands that would grace the festival were announced. The names are too numerous to list but some of the highlights are Lee Aaron, The Last Waltz – a celebration of iconic rock stars simple known as ‘The Band”, Chuckee Zehr’s rendition of Janis Joplin, Tinariwen from the Sahara region of Mali, Africa and many more.
