The Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha Committee has directed the Indian cricket board (BCCI) to freeze all elections post Monday’s verdict by the apex court. It means the elections held to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Tuesday, in which state minister Imran Ansari was elected president, stand null and void.
Similarly, the Cricket Association of Bengal elections, which were supposed to be held on July 31, now stand frozen. A letter, which the Lodha panel has written to BCCI office-bearers, clearly states that all elections in BCCI and the state associations should be “kept on hold”.
“The committee is in the process of preparing an action plan along with timelines as directed by the Supreme Court to implement the reforms and supervise the transition as swiftly as possible. Until further intimations, it is directed that BCCI and the state units keep on hold all elections and electoral processes,” the letter stated.
