India Independence Day Celebrated at Vaughan City Hall this weekend
Hundreds of Indians and friends of India joined to sing India’s National Anthem as Guest of Honour Ms. Usha Venkateshan, Consul, Indian Consulate, Toronto along with Deputy Mayor unfurled India’s Tiranga  at the Vaughan City Hall. Present among the dignitaries were Mr. Parindia, Consul, Indian Consulate, Deputy Mayor of Vaughan Michael Di Biasi, Regional Councillor Gino Rosati, Councillor Marylin Iafrate, Councillor Tony Carella, Sergeant Paul Chiang from Diversity Bureau of York Regional Police and Ravi Pandey, CEO of Hindi Abroad Media Inc. unfurled the Indian Flag. The event was organized by WEConnect Community Services
More than 200 people attended the event. As the tri-colored fluttered up in sky at Vaughan City Hall. People in colourful attire enjoyed the Parade by WEConnect Women and Melodious singing by renowned singers Afzal and Munni Subhani, who took the crowd into the depths of time commemorating the people who gave their lives for freedom of our country. The Cake cutting ceremony was held after unfurling of the flag and tasty refreshments were enjoyed by the community.
