The IAAF has ratified the world record set by American sprinter Christian Coleman in the 60-meter dash. The 22-year-old Coleman broke Maurice Greene’s 20-year-old indoor world record by running 6.34 seconds in Albuquerque on Feb. 18. Greene set the previous mark of 6.39 seconds in 1998, and equaled it in 2001. Coleman, who won the 60 meters at the world indoors this month, had already ran faster than Greene in January but his time of 6.37 was not recognized because electronic blocks were not used.

Martinez leaves Muguruza’s team

Former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez has said that she had left Garbine Muguruza’s coaching team following her Spanish compatriot’s exit at the Miami Open in the round of 16. Martinez first joined Muguruza’s set-up during the temporary absence of the World No. 3’s regular coach Sam Sumyk last year and helped the Spaniard win her first Wimbledon crown. “I want to share the news that my collaboration with Garbine has finished after Miami,” Martinez, a former finalist at the Australian Open and French Open, said on Twitter.

Wade stars as Heat trump Cavaliers

The Miami Heat led from the outset and routed the visiting Cavaliers 98-79 holding Cleveland to its lowest point total of the season. Miami’s Kelly Olynyk scored a game-high 19 points. Dwyane Wade had 12 points, four assists and four blocks in just 17 minutes while Goran Dragic added 10 points. LeBron James scored 18 points. RESULTS: Miami 98 Cleveland 79, Golden State 81 Indiana 92, LA Clippers 105 Milwaukee 98, Toronto 114 Denver 110, Sacramento 97 Dallas 103, Houston 118 Chicago 86, Orleans 103 Portland 107, Washington 116.
