Gun Control! By pulling the trigger?

Massive outburst for countering gun violence have surfaced since 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at a Florida high school this month, it was expected that the President of the United States would come out with a worthwhile plan. However, Donald Trump being the President; he came out with one of the most bizarre plans. He proposed to arm teachers, even highly trained teachers, and supporting staff too! Debates have taken place at certain town halls in United States and at various TV channels. In one tweet, President Donald Trump predicted that a prospective “sicko shooter” would think twice before attacking a school staffed with “weapons-talented teachers.” President Donald Trump’s latest idea of arming “some” teachers and/or coaches to prevent violence in schools is as absurd as some of his earlier proposals like banning immigrants from few Islamic countries and erecting a wall at the US Mexico border.
President Trump while putting forth the proposal to arm the school staff has assumed that most of the shootings in United States take place in educational institutions. His assumption is drastically wrong as his proposal is not based on facts. Moreover he hasn’t taken into consideration the number of shootings that have taken place in schools and universities and the total number of shootings that have taken place in United States. Had he done so, he would have perhaps even proposed arming the caretakers, the security guards at resorts, and ticket collectors at theatres. Moreover incidences of shootings are not a predictable phenomenon that arming one section of the working class would stop the menace of gun violence.
As a president of a nation that has liberal power over gun control, shouldn’t his prime concern be having fewer weapons and more so fewer weapons in schools and not more? President Trump’s plan on the other hand would bring more weapons in the schools. While putting forth the proposal he stands exposed on his understanding of skill sets required for professional jobs. Can he expect that the teachers would be able to fire as precisely as a police officer? Even highly trained police officers have difficulty firing accurately during a crisis. And to expect lesser trained teachers or other school staff members to do what professionally trained police officers can handle is an absolutely bizarre proposal by President Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump has to provide realistic answers to some of the questions. Has President Donald Trump analyzed the willingness of the teachers to opt for managing the schools like forts? Not many teachers would like to be part of the proposed system. No wonder the biggest resistance to President Trump’s proposal has come from National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers. Also some of the law enforcement officials have opposed the President’s proposal.
Certain other aspects of the proposal need to be addressed. Who will pay for the guns? Who will pay for the training? Has President Donald any proposal for some substitute teachers? Who will pay for the substitute teachers while those teachers to be armed are away for training? Will the teachers trained for handling arm be paid extra? If yes, who will pay for the proposed bonus for teachers willing to do this?
Also President Trump has totally neglected the impact on the school environment, especially on the young students knowing that any gun attack would be a two sided affair. President Donald Trump has overlooked a strong possibility, in an eventuality of a shooter and students in a hall, more than a teacher as a shooter a rescuer would be needed more. A group of teachers who are trained to think promptly and evacuate students to safety could be of more potential in case of such a crisis.
President Donald Trump has focused on an agenda that is prime. Gun Control! However, the measure to counter the same is absurd-pulling the trigger. But guns are the instrument of death. Gun Control is necessary by reducing the number of guns and any delay in doing so means more deaths and horror.
