Global Gap Volunteer Program Successfully Completes 5th Year
Projects Abroad announces 5th anniversary of international gap year program for high school graduates

TORONTO – June 17, 2015 – Projects Abroad, a leading international volunteer organization, will celebrate the 5th anniversary of its innovative Global Gap program this year. The program is popular with high school graduates who choose to take a gap year before university so they can travel, experience cultural exchange, and contribute to service projects in developing countries.
“Global Gap has grown enormously over the past five years and has gone from strength to strength,” says Khadija Benchlikha, a Program Advisor for Projects Abroad Canada. “In the first year, two students participated. The class of 2014-2015, our biggest group to date, had seventeen students taking part. We are thrilled to see that so many students are eager to devote their gap years to giving back and exploring the world as volunteers.”
On the Global Gap program, students can explore new fields and expand their interests and practical skills continuously. An added appeal is that they can gain insight into the issues facing developing countries today through service work, such as education, housing, environmental conservation, and more. It is an immense opportunity to learn and grow, and many students relish the chance. Isabet, a volunteer who took part on the program, shared this:
“The Global Gap year I had was the best experience I could have ever hoped for, and I absolutely loved the projects, the people, and the beautiful places I got the chance to visit!”
The 2015-2016 group will depart on September 25th 2015. Places are still available for the trip.
The full itinerary includes:
September 25th – October 10th, 2015 (2 weeks): Orientation & Care in Accra, Ghana
October 11th – December 12th, 2015 (2 months): Building & Choice of Project in Cape Town, South Africa
December 13th, 2015 – January 9th, 2016 (1 month): Winter Break
January 10th – March 13th, 2016 (2 months): Teaching in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru
March 14th – April 16th, 2016 (1 month): Choice of Project in Kathmandu, Nepal
April 17th – May 14th, 2016 (1 month): Diving & Marine Conservation in Krabi, Thailand
