Doctor claims MJ’s dad chemically castrated him

Pop legend Michael Jackson was “chemically castrated” by his father Joe, according to the late star’s doctor Conrad Murray. Murray said Joe, who died from cancer last month, was “cruel” to his children. “Joe Jackson was one of the worst fathers to his children in history,” Murray is reported to have told a publication. Michael had talked about the cruelty he had experienced at the hands of his father, he said. “The fact that he was chemically castrated to maintain his high-pitched voice is beyond words,” he added. Murray has previously claimed Joe would give Michael hormone injections to stop his voice from getting deeper.

FB facing fine over CA data breach

Britain’s information regulator has slapped Facebook with fine for breaches of data protection law after millions of users’ data was improperly accessed by consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica (CA).

The £500,000 fine is less that 10 minutes worth of revenue for the company, but is the maximum amount allowed and emphasises how regulators are finding fault in its business practices. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has faced questioning by US and EU lawmakers over how CA got hold of the personal data of 87 million users from a researcher.Britain’s information commissioner’s office said it would fine Facebook, though it can respond to the commissioner before a final decision is made.

11 die in Afghan education office attack

At least 11 persons were killed after gunmen stormed an education department compound in eastern Afghanistan,  officials said, sparking an hours-long battle with security forces in the latest attack in the restive region.

Ten others, mostly employees, were wounded in the second attack in Jalalabad city in as many days, Nangarhar provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani is reported to have said.

Many of the workers were trapped inside the building during the gun battle between security forces and militants, which has ended. Twenty staff members were rescued. The 11 dead were all employees of the education department branch and included the director, Khogyani said.

At least two attackers were involved in the raid and both were killed.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the raid.

BBC list shows men still dominate highest paid jobs

A list of top earners at the BBC shows that men dominate the highest paid jobs despite pledges to grant women equal pay. The BBC has said that its top earner is soccer presenter Gary Lineker, who took home between £1.75 million and £1.76 million. The BBC has said that recent changes aren’t reflected in a list that compiled salaries until April and that the gender pay gap has been reduced by nearly a fifth over the past year.
