Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are the top seeds for Wimbledon singles play in 2016. Andy Murray was the second seed and would not meet Djokovic at the All-England Club until the final. It would be their eighth Grand Slam championship singles match.
Djokovic won the first two legs of the tennis Grand Slam and hits London as the first men’s player since 1992 — Jim Courier — to enter Wimbledon with successive singles slam titles. Roger Federer, who beat Murray in the 2015 final at Wimbledon, is seeded third and Stan Wawrinka fourth.Rafael Nadal will not play in the tournament for the first time since 2009 as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. Williams, who shares a record with Steffi Graf of 21 Grand Slam titles, made it to the final in the first two tennis majors this year but lost each match. Her sixth Wimbledon title last year is Williams’ most recent Slam win.
Seeded second is Garbine Muguruza, who won the French open and was beaten by Williams in last year’s Wimbledon final. Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland is third and Australian Open champion Angeliguq Kerber is seeded fourth.
Five-time champion Venus Williams is seeded ninth and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is seeded
11th.
