A video of the incident shared on social networking sites went viral, DMRC official says Metro staff guarded the door till all passengers de-boarded
In an incident that could have resulted in a major mishap, a packed Delhi Metro train made its underground journey from the Chawri Bazar station to Kashmiri Gate with one of its gates open. The incident triggered some chaos among the commuters traveling in the train considering that the operating system of the metro railway is designed in way as to let no train leave the station till all of its doors are properly locked.
The ‘yellow line’ of the Delhi Metro is one of the busiest routes of the network as it also acts as the connecting line for other alternative routes (especially the one at Rajiv Chowk where passengers de-board to take the Metro for the Noida-Dwarka or Vaishali-Dwarka ‘blue line) and is the service to go to the New Delhi Railway station or the Kashmiri Gate inter-state bus terminus.
A video of the incident shared on social networking platforms by a commuter who was on the train went viral soon after the incident and attracted criticism for the major lapse in safety measures in metro operations.
