The Cincinnati Bengals made a special teams addition with the signing of punter Will Monday. Cincinnati announced the move late Wednesday. The Bengals also released wide receiver Jake Kumerow. Monday entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signing in 2016 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Duke product was waived after the third preseason game last year. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on May 9. The Chiefs waived Monday on July 6. Last preseason, Monday had 471 yards on 11 punts, for a 42.8-yard average. He had one punt inside the 20-yard line and no touchbacks, with a net average of 38.5 yards. Monday is listed at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds. In college, Monday was a four-time All-ACC selection and a four-time Academic All-ACC selection.
Kumerow was released with a waived/injured designation. If he clears waivers he’ll revert to the Bengals’ reserve/injured list. Kumerow suffered an ankle injury on the first day of training camp and hasn’t practiced since. He initially joined the Bengals in 2015.
