Central Robbery Arrest Male in Bank Robbery Investigation

Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau arrest and charge a 22 year old male in relation to two bank robberies in the City of Brampton.

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at approximately 9:16 a.m. the suspect entered a TD branch located in north Brampton. He approached the victim, a 64 year-old male of Brampton, who was standing at the counter making a cash deposit. The suspect put the victim in a head lock and held a gun to his head demanding money. The victim complied and the suspect fled the bank on foot. The victim was not injured during the incident.

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at approximately 10:02 a.m. the suspect entered an RBC branch located in north Brampton. After speaking to a bank teller about opening a new account, he retrieved a black handgun and made a demand for money. The suspect then grabbed a customer, a 50 year-old male of Toronto, around the neck and pointed the handgun at him demanding more money. The teller complied and the suspect fled the bank on foot. There were no injuries sustained in this incident.

With the assistance of the community and media outlets the Central Robbery Bureau were able to arrest and charge, Sean Demeritte, with two counts of robbery and two counts of using an imitation firearm while committing an offence. Sean Demeritte was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
