Celebrate 100 Days Out to the Canada 55+ Games

BRAMPTON, ON: The Canada 55+ Games are coming to Brampton August 16-19, 2016. The City is hosting a 100 Days Out Celebration on May 9, from 4-7 pm at the Chinguacousy Park Curling Club.

Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy interactive sport experiences and demonstrations, an informative health and wellness fair, and learn more about the Canada 55+ Games. Free food and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Pizza Pizza, Subway and Starbucks. Plus the first 100 guests will receive a free gift!

“The City of Brampton is looking forward to welcoming athletes and visitors from across the country to the 2016 Canada 55+ Games,” said Mayor Linda Jeffrey. “The 100 Days Out event will be a great way of kicking off the countdown to the Games, and engaging our community.”

“The Canada Senior Games Association and all its members are very excited about the 2016 Games in Brampton,” said Bob McLeod, President, Canada Senior Games Association. “The organizing committee is doing a great job preparing for this event. We appreciate their dedication, as well as the support of Brampton City Council and the hundreds of volunteers who have already signed up to participate. Can’t wait to see you in August!”

The Canada 55+ Games are led by the Canada Senior Games Association to encourage older adults to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Provincial competitions are staged annually in different provinces and territories. More than 10,000 Canadian seniors actively participate in local events leading up to the national games. This year’s event will mark the 20th anniversary of the Canada 55+ Games – the first national Games were held in Regina in 1996. –
