Legendary Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos is likely to join Delhi Dynamos, an Indian Super League (ISL) franchise, as Technical Manager. Carlos, 41, one of the greatest left-backs of all-time, has reportedly made up his mind to take charge of the Delhi team. Dynamos were in talks with Carlos for over two months and an announcement in this regard could be made by next week. Carlos, who is currently the manager of Qatar’s Al-Arabi club, has reportedly accepted to join the Dynamos for one season.
As a technical manager, apart from extending support to the coaching staff, Carlos will also overlook the Dynamos’ grassroots development programme.
Known as the ‘Bullet Man’ for his powerful, bending free-kicks, Carlos started playing for Brazil in 1992 and was a member of the ‘Seleção’ in three World Cups. He joined Real Madrid in 1996, and scored 71 goals in 584 matches. He helped the club win four La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League three times. In August 2012, he announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.
