A 55-year-old Canadian, who had been staying in India for 15 years on forged documents, was arrested by the Vrindavan police. As per reports, Ryan Gladstone had been staying in ISKCON temple in Vrindavan since 2010 and is a Krishna devotee. He had come to India in 1994 and stayed in Varanasi, and extended his visa. Later, he paid Rs 30 lakh to someone, through a Delhi-based lawyer, to get a fake Indian nationality certificate. Agra’s SP Shrawan Kumar Singh said that police is trying to locate the person and the lawyer, who helped the Canadian get the fake certificate. He shared with media in India that the ministry of home affairs (MHA) also confirmed the certificate was fake and was never issued by them. Singh said probe showed that the same number certificate was issued to a Sri Lankan national. “We cannot rule out the possibility of some organised gang behind it,”  Singh shared with media adding that the Intelligence Bureau are probing the man.
