Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada mourns the loss of innocent lives in Sehwan, Pakistan

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada condemns the attack that took place at a shrine in Pakistan on Thursday. It has been reported that a bomber blew himself up among devotees in the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar located in the town of Sehwan in Sindh province. At least 72 people have been reported dead with hundreds more wounded. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at urges for calm and patience as authorities work swiftly to restore security and order.

“It truly grieves us to hear of yet another attack on innocent people in Pakistan. We are praying for the rapid recovery of the wounded,” says National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, Mr. Lal Khan Malik. “In Islam, we are taught that killing even one innocent person is akin to killing all of mankind.

Islam forbids all forms of terror and extremism. The founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), placed a strong emphasis on especially protecting places of worship. The Holy Qur’an specifically teaches that all places of worship are sacred and must always be protected.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada prays for strength and patience for all those left bereaved or affected by this tragedy.
