Canada India Foundation hosts lunch reception for Chief Minister of Haryana and delegation

Chief Minister of the Indian State of Haryana Manohar Lal, made a strong pitch for investment in Haryana to an audience of nearly 80 entrepreneurs at a special lunch reception hosted by the Board of Governors of Canada India Foundation at the Toronto Sheraton Hotel.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Industries Minister Captain Abhimanyu and top government bureaucrats, as well a strong contingent of members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), led by Deep Kapuria. The High Commissioner of India in Canada, His Excellency Vishnu Prakash, Consul General of India in Toronto, Akhilesh Mishra, and Members of the Provincial Parliament from Ontario, Ms. Amri tMangat and Ms. Indira Naidoo-Harris as well bureaucrats from the Government of Ontario were among the dignitaries present.

Speaking to the audience in both Hindi and English, The Chief Minister highlighted the tremendous growth experienced by the State of Haryana and the measures that his government had instituted to ease the process for business investment in Haryana including the Single Roof system, wherein all the components of the investment approval would be housed under the same roof shared by the Chief Minister’s office. This would greatly simplify the time consuming steps that foreign as well as Non-Resident Indian businesses had experienced in the past, in India in general.He recalled the visit of Swami Vivekananda to North America, recalling to great applause that the Swami was also named Narendra, like the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose visit 130 years later was also enthusiastically received.Industries Minister Captain Abhimanyu elaborated on the various sectors in which Haryana was investing heavily, i.e Energy, Textiles, Aerospace, Automotive and Skill Development. Answering questions from the current investors, he gave assurance that the process for business investments approvals had indeed been streamlined and provided collateral material to support Haryana’s industry prominence in the overall Indian scenario.

Earlier, welcoming the Chief Minister on behalf of the Board of Governors of CIF, Chair AjitSomeshwarspoke about the purpose of establishing CIF and highlighted is many achievements in the short span of 8 years, including the organization of the Canada India forums and the creation of the Global Indian Award. High Commissioner Vishnu Prakash expressed his appreciation for the work beingdone by Canada India Foundation in strengthening the relations between Canada and India. The immediate past-chair of CIF, Dr. Lakshmanan presented the Chief Minister with a copy of the book published by CIF of talks given by Dr. Kalam in Canada, as well reports of CIF’s Canada India forums. Entrepreneur KrishSuthanthiran, with major interests in healthcare and energy, and sponsor of the lunch reception, also spoke.
