Brampton receives $2.5 Million from the Community Infrastructure Program

Brampton has received over $2.5 million from the Community Infrastructure Program (CIP). The Community Infrastructure Program (CIP) has helped improve cultural and community locations across the country such as parks, trails, as well as cultural and community centres which bring together Canadian families to enjoy moments of sport, recreation and leisure. Of the total $300 Million under CIP, close to $90 Million was allocated for southern Ontario. Projects were then selected based on project readiness, scope, extent to which other funding was leveraged for the project, and the extent to which the project supported a clean growth economy. Of the total funding, $100,000 was invested in the riding of Brampton West to help residents stay active and spend quality time with their families in the great outdoors. This includes the new fitness trail at Creditview and Sandalwood Park, and rehabilitation of the playground at Koretz Park. Ms. Kamal Khera, Member of Parliament for Brampton West believes Brampton families will be able to benefit from these improvements to public infrastructure, which will help foster a better sense of community in Brampton.

TheCommunity Infrastructure Program (CIP) was delivered by regional development agencies across the country to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. The $300-million national program supported the renovation, expansion and improvement of existing community and cultural infrastructure.
FedDev Ontario delivered the program in southern Ontario with a total allocation of up to $88.8 million over two years.
