Arrest Made in Human Trafficking Investigation

A male previously wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for Human Trafficking related offences that occurred in Peel Region and other jurisdictions is now in custody.

On Friday, February 3, 2017, police responded to a report of a male suspect who had violently assaulted a female. Further investigation determined that the male had exploited the female victim in the sex trade for a period of time.

In addition, investigators with the Major Drugs and Vice Bureau have spoken to a 19 year-old female victim who was also exploited by the male suspect during the same time period.

Investigators had issued a Canada Wide arrest warrant for Kartel PYE, a 26 year-old male of no fixed address.  On Monday, January 15, 2018, officers with the Halifax Regional Police located and arrested Kartel PYE in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Kartel PYE was charged with the :  Procuring, Exercise Control Over a Prostitute x2, Derive a Material Benefit from Sexual Services x2, Trafficking in Persons, Receiving Benefit Resulting From Trafficking in Persons, Withholding or Destroying Documents for the Purposes of Trafficking in Persons, Assault x 3, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement, Overcoming Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle Another Person, Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Sexual Assault

PYE was returned to Ontario on Thursday, January 18, 2018,  by Peel investigators where he was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton
