AN UNFORGETTABLE LITERARY TREAT BY UPICA

UPICA (Uttar Pradeshies In Canada), hosted a unique, memorable Hindi Hasya Kavi Sammelan on Sep 10^th, 2017 at Courtyard by Marriott, Brampton, in order to raise funds to help the underprivileged disabled, who are in need of artificial limbs, through a special winter camp in India. Dr. Sunil Jogi and Dr. Surendra Dubey (Both PADMSHREE awardees) and Dr. Sarita Sharma (A poetess with rare poetic prowess) flew all the way from India to entertain the Hindi lovers of the GTA and environs. Top quality poetry recitations, marked by humor, stinging satire, love and patriotism enthralled the entire audience whose constant clapping along with appreciative “WAH-WAH” gave the poets a rare treat as well. For almost four hours the Hindi lovers were almost glued to seats. Such a grand phenomenon is seldom witnessed. It was the best Hasya Kavi Sammelan in recent years.

The poetry concert was illuminated with the presence of MP Hon. Bob Saroya and MP Hon. Garnett Genuis along with Rakesh Joshi, Naval Bajaj, Naval Grotra, Kuldeep Sharma, Kailash Bhatnagar, Kanta Arora, Sudhir Anand, Tarun Basil, Rakesh Tewari, Ravi Malik, Ricky Bajaj, Sandeep Prabhakar, Sundeep Tyagi, Ashwani Basil, Prem Sharma, Jeet Sharma and Arvind Bhardwaj among others. A number of TV Channels ATN, ZEE, PTC, Hamdard, and Chardikala captured the event live. CINA Radio, Radio Voice and Apna Radio covered the event. Professor Devendra Mishra and Prof. Saran Ghai were the emcees of the evening.

This Hasya Kavi Sammelan was a grand success and will be remembered as a milestone in UPICA’s journey to fame. UPICA founder and president Sanjeev Malik and entire UPICA Executive deserves heartiest congratulations for this illustrious accomplishment.
