Airlift’ earns Rs 44.30 crore in the opening weekend

Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift  released last Friday is doing an impressive business at the box-office. The film is not only making good amount at the domestic box-office but also doing impressive business overseas. ‘Airlift’ based on world’s largest evacuation made a total of Rs 44.30 crore in the opening weekend.

The film off to a great start and earned Rs 12.35 crore in the opening day. The movie saw a jump on the second day and collected Rs 14.60 core. On Sunday, it grossed Rs 17.35 and made a total of Rs 44.30 crore in the first weekend.

Opened with mixed reviews but positive words of mouth is taking the film to a new height. Possibility is high that the film will cross Rs 100 crore in couple of days. ‘Airlift’ can be considered as the first hit of the year.

With an opening weekend box office collection of Rs 44.30 crore, the film beat Akshay Kumar’s past record.  ‘Airlift’ suppressed the opening weekend collection of ‘Baby’, ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ and ‘Gabbar Is Back’.

Highly thrilled with the response, Akshay Kumar thanked his fans. “I don’t know how to thank you all for every ounce of all your love and support for #Airlift, feeling extremely humbled,” Akshay tweeted on Sunday.

Directed by Raja Menon, the film features Akshay and Nimrat Kaur in the lead roles, while Feryna Wazheir, Purab Kohli, Lena, Kumud Mishra and Prakash Belawadi are in the supporting cast.
