 Brampton New Year’s Eve 2018

This New Year’s Eve, join us for fun, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and fireworks in downtown Brampton.

A live concert, curated with support from Brampton’s own SounDrive Records, will take place at Garden Square from 8 pm to midnight on Monday, December 31. The concert will feature headliner Shawn Hook, as well as the Julian Taylor Band and Brampton-based artists Raz, Melle Rose and DJ Tam. Two exciting fireworks displays, presented by Tim Hortons, will take place at both 9 pm and midnight.

The fun goes beyond Garden Square, too. This year, family-friendly entertainment will take place at City Hall from 6:30 to 9 pm with a live dance party in the Conservatory and a roaming magician and warming area in the Atrium. Families are encouraged to catch the early fireworks show at 9 pm in Garden Square when the party at City Hall wraps up.

Everyone is encouraged to visit Gage Park to view the thousands of sparkling winter lights and skate on the trail throughout the festivities.

FREE New Year’s Eve Service on all Brampton Transit routes begins at 7 pm on December 31 and includes extended service on some routes.

More info is available here.

Fireworks

New Year’s Eve is one of four approved days in a year when short-range fireworks are allowed on private property, without the need for a permit. Short-range fireworks are those that tend to travel less than three metres (10 feet) when set off (e.g. fountains, wheels, ground spinners, sparklers). All other rocket-type fireworks are banned in Brampton. The City reminds residents that fireworks are not allowed to be used on the street, sidewalks, within City parks or on municipal or school properties.

For more information, visit www.brampton.ca

When using short-range fireworks on your property, you must follow these safety precautions:

  • You must have a container of water or a hose line that’s filled with water available to extinguish fireworks
  • You must never light a firework or hold a lit firework in your hand, other than a sparkler
  • After using sparklers, place them in a container of water to fully cool before disposal
  • Allow all fireworks to fully cool before disposal

New Year’s Levee

Enjoy light refreshments and bring your skates to spend the afternoon at the Gage Park skating trail! Free parking is available at City Hall. Watch for timings and more details in the New Year.
