Spurs defender Aurier released after arrest on suspicion of assault

Tottenham defender Serge Aurier was arrested on suspicion of assault after police were called to his home near London but released without charge, reports said. As per reports,  the Ivory Coast international, 26, was taken into custody on last Saturday and missed Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat by Manchester United at Wembley the following day.Police issued a statement saying, “A 26-year-old man  was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and has been released with no further action.”

Kolkata cricketer dies on the field

Promising all-rounder Aniket Sharma on Tuesday collapsed on a cricket field and died moments later owing to a possible cardiac arrest. Aniket, 21, from Paikpara Club, was brought dead to RG Kar Medical Hospital. He is survived by his mother and father. A southpaw who could also bowl right-arm off spin, Aniket joined the club last year and according to his coach was “a fine talent”. “He was a good cricketer. He was a brilliant team man and a good fielder too. We are shocked to say the least,” his coach said. Former Bengal captain Sambaran Banerjee, who runs a club of his own, expressed shock at the incident too. “I have no words to express how sad I am. This is too tragic.” According to hospital sources, his body will be taken for post mortem to diagnose the cause of his death.

Costas parts ways with NBC after 40 years

Longtime sportscaster Bob Costas has said that heis parting ways with NBC after 40 years with the network. “It’s all settled quietly and happily for all concerned,” Costas is reported to have shared with a leading daily from New York. Costas added he will continue to do work some for the MLB Network. He is also contemplating pursuing a sit-down sports interview show. Costas has covered nearly every major sporting during his career with NBC — from the Super Bowl to World Series to NBA Finals and Olympics. He has served as both studio host and play-by-lay announcer for nearly each event. Costas began as a play-by-play announcer as with the Spirits of St. Louis franchise in the old American Basketball Association in the 1970s.
